WebJul 19, 2024 · It was determined that the elevator gust lock had re-engaged during the pilot's takeoff checks and that it was not noticed until it was too late to abort the takeoff. Following the crash, all British HS-748 planes were fitted with a light on the gust-lock lever to warn the pilots if the lever was not in the correct position.
