Converting a curve into a mesh is very simple and there are many reasons that you may want to do so. Webthis means you are re-using the mesh in the data tab and the modifiers do not want to apply to a re-used mesh. To fix this, select all your object (in the 3D viewport while in object mode) then press [U] and select 'Object & Data'.
